Orange Blossom Special Ride for Humanity, BBQ and Bike Festival

Two miles of downtown Clearwater streets will be off-limits to car traffic on April 29, 2009, from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm, so cyclists, walkers, skaters, joggers and dog walkers can take over the streets for a day of street play. Earn Bicycle Gear for Low-Income Bicyclists

Many BayCycle Ambassadors have decided to earn bicycle necessities for low-income cyclists.  For every five Friends that sign up, Ambassadors can earn bicycle gear that will be donated to help low-income cyclists.  If you would like to assist, click here  http://www.tampabaycycle.com/pledge1001Friends.htm to complete the 1,001 Friends of Cycling Pledge Form.  In the Referred By field, enter Kimberly Cooper.

Gib's Group Saturday Bicycle Rides - Downtown St. Petersburg

Every Saturday:  Group meets at the west end of the North Shore Pool parking lot at Ninth Avenue NE and North Shore Drive NE in downtown St. Petersburg and takes off riding sharp at 8:30 AM.  Ride ends about 10:00 AM.

Directed by local bicycle commuter and UCF professor Lisa Mills, Dear Mr. Gore chronicles one woman's attempt to use her bicycle as a vehicle to explore fear and global warming, all while riding to work.  Filmed in Orlando, Tampa, Sweden, and Denmark, the film is a contemplative response to An Inconvenient Truth and provides a unique perspective on one person's attempt to reduce her carbon footprint and overcome fear.  Filmmaker Lisa Mills will lead a discussion after the screenings.   Click here for more information.

Urban Street Skills Lunch and Learn Session

Part of the Tampa BayCycle campaign is to educate people about how to bike safely. Please join us on Friday, March 6 from noon to 1pm at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center for a free lunch and learn session on urban street skills presented by a Certified Bike Instructor. Topics include rules of the road, choosing your route, what to wear, safety precautions, and more. Free food and helmets will be distributed.
