Emergency Ride Home

What happens if you commute to work by bicycle or transit and suddenly have to get home for an emergency?

Rest assured – we’ve got you covered.

The Emergency Ride Home (ERH) Program offered through Tampa Bay Area Regional Transportation Authority (TBARTA)  ensures that you’ll never be stranded at work. If you cycle, carpool, vanpool, ride the bus or walk to work at least two (2) days a week, you may be eligible for a FREE* (or low cost) taxi ride home. The ERH Program will pay for your ride home in the following cases:

  • Personal or family emergency
  • Unscheduled overtime
  • Sickness
  • Carpool/Vanpool partners have an emergency

It’s easy to use! Register for the ERH Program by calling TBARTA at  1-800-998-RIDE (1-800-998-7433)  or go to the website. Once registered, you’ll receive an ERH I.D. card. The I.D. card, along with an ERH voucher and a picture I.D., is all you need for your emergency trip home. The voucher lists names and numbers of participating taxi companies. Complete your section of the voucher, have it signed by your supervisor and give it to the driver. That’s all you have to do. And you can use the ERH Program up to eight (8) times a year!**

To register, go to TBARTA and sign up.

* Customers will have the first $100 of their taxi fare paid. Anything in excess of $100 will be billed to the employee.
